Attention Residents, and Non Profit Organizations!!!

In carrying out the mission to serve the informational and educational needs of the community, the East Chicago Public Library offers meeting rooms in the Main Library and the Pastrick Branch Library.  These rooms are available at no charge to East Chicago residents, eligible library patrons, non-profit groups and governmental agencies wishing to present programs or to hold meetings which serve the community’s needs for education, information and cultural enrichment.

Meeting Rooms

Space is provided at no charge for meetings or programs of not-for-profit groups of two to 100. Smaller study rooms may be used by individuals. Reservations are required for use of the rooms.

Computers

Computers may be accessed by patrons 16 years and older in the adult department. Patrons may provide their own blank computer discs or purchase them at the circulation desk for $2.00. Computer print outs are .10 cents per sheet. If you bring your own resume paper it will still be .10 cents per sheet. Computers are on a first come first serve basis. One-hour limit. Only the patron using the equipment is allowed to enter the room. Patron must have his or her library card to use the computers. All computer rooms close ½ hour before the schedule library closing.

Typewriters

Public typewriters are available for public use at the Main Library. Patrons must register at the circulation desk. These are on a first come first served basis. All rooms close 1/2 hour before the scheduled library closing.

Audio Visual

The Audio Visual Department has Compact Discs, Books on Tape, VHS, and Dvd's. They cover music and a wide variety of other subjects, many in languages other than English. The Department has more than 3,000 videocassettes and Dvd's in English and Spanish that may be borrowed with a deposit, East Chicago Library cardholders can borrow audio visual equipment. These include 16mm projector, Video Cassette Player, Dvd Players, Engraver, Screen and Digital Camera. Framed art and sculpture may also be borrowed from the Circulation Department.
