Welcome to the East Chicago Public Library
In observance of the holiday season, the East Chicago Public Library will be closed Wednesday, December 24, and Thursday, December 25. The closing applies to both the Main Library, 2401 Columbus Drive, and the Pastrick Branch Library, 1008 W. Chicago Ave. The closing also applies to the library reading rooms located at the community centers: King, Penn, 151st, Clemente, and Heritage Hall.
Regular library hours will resume Friday, December 26, Main and Pastrick Branch hours are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Please call Joyce Martin at 397.5773 for the hours the library reading rooms at the community centers will be open for service.

New Hours, New Services and New Fees
Effective Monday, August 4, 2014, the East Chicago Room will only be open Tuesday – Thursday from 12:30 to 4:30 PM

Effective Monday, August 4, 2014, scanning services will be available ONLY at the Main Library, 2401 E. Columbus Drive. The service will be available Monday – Friday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM . The cost for scanning is $0.45 per page.
The administrative offices where the scanner is located closes at 4:00 PM.

Effective October 2014, the fee for the use of the meeting rooms at the Main Library, 2401 E. Columbus Drive and the Pastrick Branch, 1008 W. Chicago Avenue will be $15.00.

Latonya S. Hicks - The Goldenly Wreath

Please join us on Saturday, December 20 at 12 noon at the East Chicago Public Library, main library located at 2401 E. Columbus Drive for an afternoon event filled with the gift of encouragement. Local author and current resident of East Chicago, Latonya S. Hicks, will be discussing and signing copies of her children’s book, The Goldenly Wreath, a story about a young boy who overcomes many obstacles to achieve his goal. This motivating book tells a tale that we, as people, should “Never Give Up” on our goals in life.
The public is invited to attend this book signing event which will include special guests, raffles, and photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Copies of her book will be available for purchase and refreshments will be served.

History Room By Appointment only
Due to shortage of staff, use of the East Chicago History Room is temporarily ONLY by appointment. Appointments may be made at the Reference Department.

FOOD FOR FINES
Patrons can wipe their slate clean of overdue fines by contributing to the library’s annual food drive. Canned goods and other non-perishable food items will be accepted as payment for fines from December 1st to December 31st. Read More...
