Interlibrary Loan
The interlibrary loan program allows the East Chicago Public Library to obtain books for patrons from participating libraries all over the world
Who can reserve ILL books?
Only ECPL Adult Residents with a library card in good standing can use the ILL reserve system. Reciprocal borrowers have to go through their home library.
Where can ILL books be ordered?
ILL books can be ordered using the form on the right or at:

- Robert A. Pastrick Branch (Chicago Ave) (219) 397-5505 ext. 13.
Materials have to be returned back to the library it was picked up from.
What can be ordered through ILL?
Books that are six months old and older.
How long does it take?
Two to six weeks-Books can come from anywhere in the United States. We will contact you when the book is ready for pickup.
How long do ILL books check out for and can they be renewed?
The loan period for the book is established by the lending library, generally books must be returned within a three- to four-week period. The return date will be indicated when the book is checked out. Certain libraries will allow renewal, which will be indicated on the book.
Is there a charge?
There is a late fee of $1.00 per day.
